Walter Stewart’s Joins the NC Color Drop

Doug Stewart, (Vice President/Owner Walter Stewart’s Market), Chris Farley (NC Color Drop) Alex Stewart, (President/Owner Walter Stewart’s Market), Bill Egan (Principal NCHS, Chair NCSF)
The NCHS Scholarship Foundation (NCSF) welcomes Walter Stewart’s as a title sponsor for the third annual NC Color Drop to be held on March 25th, 2023, at 10:00am.  That Saturday morning, a sleek Bell407 helicopter, courtesy of HeliNY, will once again fly over the skies of New Canaan and hover over Waveny Park, safely releasing 2000 colored golf balls over a designated target.  Each golf ball will have an assigned number.  The lucky winners, whose ball lands closest to the target, will win one of the following special prizes:  a Momentum Transend Electric Bike, a Pet Portrait by artist Emma Sims, a season pass to the Steve Benko Pool at Waveny Park, or an 84 Sports gift basket.  The winning balls will be announced immediately. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to the NCSF for need-based scholarships given to NCHS graduates.
Throughout the years, Walter Stewart’s Market has generously partnered with the NCSF and recognizes the long-standing community effort to provide need-based financial aid for NCHS graduates pursuing higher education at the undergraduate level.

Spectators will be allowed to view the NC Color Drop from a safe distance in Waveny.  Golf balls are available for purchase at www.nchs-sf.org/colordrop.

Celebrating Earth Day Every Day

Walter Stewart’s has long been committed to offering eco-friendlier products and eco-responsible practices.

  • US Food Rescue
Walter Stewart’s has teamed up with US Food Rescue and their volunteers to tackle the problem of food waste head on. US Food Rescue picks up all of their edible perishables every day, and transports the food to local food pantries and social service agencies.
  • Curbside Compost Program
The rest of our food waste, approximately 20 bins a week, is composted by Curbside Compost. In our first year composting we have diverted 107,000 lbs or 53.5 tons of food scraps from the waste stream.
  • Compostable Produce Bags
Walter Stewart’s offers the only compostable produce bag approved for use in New Canaan’s Food Scrap program
  • Re-Usable Bags
We offer an excellent selection of re-usable shopping bags, from stylish, handy Blu Bags to WSM insulated box bags!  Use your T-Bill rewards towards the purchase of our WSM reusable totes.
  • Sustainable and Eco-Friendly products
You’ll find greener household cleaners and laundry detergents, we use eco-friendly compostable produce bags instead of plastic, we offer a glass bottle deposit/return program with organic glass bottled milk from Trickling Springs Creamery, we of course also offer re-usable shopping bags and we are committed to offering the best selection of local fare from the finest CT producers (East Coast Kombucha, Simply Delicious, Millstone Farm, Il Palio Fresh Pasta, Baldanza Soups, Whistle Stop Bakery Pies, Wave Hill Breads, Shearwater Organic Coffee, Fat Stone Farm, Gilbertie’s Herbs, Arethusa Milk and so many more!), as well as organic and sustainable foods, and bio-dynamic wines.
